By accessing or using CrokyLingo (the “App”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
CrokyLingo is a language learning application operated by CrokyLingo. These terms apply to all users who register an account on the platform.
2. Permitted Use
CrokyLingo is intended for personal, non-commercial language learning. You may use the App to study vocabulary, grammar, and reading exercises for your own benefit.
You agree not to:
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users’ accounts or data.
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to abuse the App’s API endpoints.
- Reverse-engineer or tamper with the App for purposes that harm others.
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose.
3. No Warranty
CrokyLingo is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. The administrator makes no guarantees about:
- Continuous, uninterrupted availability of the App.
- Accuracy or completeness of the vocabulary and grammar content.
- Fitness for any particular learning outcome or certification.
- Loss of data due to hardware failure, software bugs, or accidental deletion.
You use CrokyLingo at your own risk. The administrator is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the App.
4. Third-Party Services
CrokyLingo integrates with the following third-party services. Some are always active; others are optional features.
Google Analytics
CrokyLingo uses Google Analytics to understand how users interact with the App (e.g., pages visited, session duration). Google Analytics may collect your IP address and usage data. Use is subject to Google’s Terms of Service.
Google AdSense
CrokyLingo may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google AdSense uses cookies to serve relevant ads based on your browsing history. Use is subject to Google’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. You can opt out via Google’s Ad Settings.
Anthropic Claude API
Used for AI-powered story generation and vocabulary suggestions. When enabled, the text of your request (e.g., the target language and word list) is sent to Anthropic’s servers. Use is subject to Anthropic’s Terms of Service.
MyMemory Translation API
Used for automatic word translation suggestions. When a translation is requested, the word is sent to MyMemory’s servers. Use is subject to MyMemory’s Terms.
Forvo
CrokyLingo may link to Forvo.com for native-speaker pronunciation examples. Clicking a Forvo link takes you to an external site; CrokyLingo does not send any data to Forvo. Use of Forvo is subject to Forvo’s Terms.
5. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Use at any time. Continued use of CrokyLingo after a change is posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
